Hourly Assemblies

We have provided drawings and construction details for exterior bearing and nonbearing walls requiring a fire-resistance rating to assist users of Pyro-Guard® fire-retardant-treated lumber and plywood.  The drawings and construction details for 2-hr rated walls are based on assemblies listed by UL and the Gypsum Association.  For 1-hr. walls the component additive method in Section 721.6 and the construction requirements in the International Building Code were used.  Questions should be directed to 1 (800) TEC-WOOD (832-9663).

A recent test at UL has resulted in a unique listing for a 2-hour fire-resistance rated bearing wall assembly of Pyro-Guard fire-retardant-treated lumber and Pyro-Guard fire-retardant-treated plywood.  This new listing, UL Design No. V314, covers the vast majority of structure exposures providing an alternative to those designers wanting a UL Design number.
